Its 5:00 AM and I've been reading in the dark for hours with a book light clipped to my bra. On my right are my boys, Bruce and Rob sleeping quietly. I unhook my book lamp and shove my book at Rob. He grabs it in his sleep and puts it on the desk without waking up. I get ready to dose and listen to him mumble something about dalmatians in his slumber and go to sleep myself. These are the kinds of things I want to remember.

Those kinds of things and the time he yelled out "Birds!" and started cawing in his sleep.

Rob's mom came to visit this weekend. It was great fun and many yummy meals were had. Now that she's off its time to get ready for Crystal's B-day.

Everyone make sure to wish her happy birthday!

Thanks for licking off my sweat when I'm hot, my tears when I'm sad, and my smile after you lick your own butt.

Yesterday I went to new flower market with Rob. We got a couple of salads and a soup. I watched Rob push around the leaves and go straight for the cheese and chicken. At the end there was a massive pile of uneaten spinach at which he slowly nitpicked.

I took a final and came home. After an hour wait we headed of to Star Trek. Mmm... I love Spock. We might just go see that movie again.

Saturday: Had an awesome day with Crystal, Adam, and Rob. We went to Fatstraws. It was okay tea, with terrible bubbles. Adam showed us how far he could launch them with a straw. His bubble went a good 30 feet. After that we went to the mall and browsed around for a bit. When we got home we enjoyed the storm and watched Matrix reloaded with the Rifftrax. After the night was concluded we went to TGIF and discovered they now have a five dollar sandwich and salad menu!

Thursday: Went to see Wolverine. We saw it on the biggest screen available, but we probably should have saved our 3 extra dollars and put it to a better cause. Crystal and Adam came along and we got bad seats because we made smoothies before hand.

Friday: Allergy attack to the max! Rob and I found a new taco place, but it was not spectacular.

I should really use this thing more.

Last weekend: Rob helped me fix up my bike and we went for an 8 mile ride. I put on 5 pounds so I'm trying to take them back off. Story of my life. I watched Earth by Disney at the movies. It used footage from Plant Earth but dumbed down the narration severely.

Monday: I gave a presentation over my mock audit of Pfizer. Pretty much all that went on.

Tuesday: I stayed home and did laundry and made dinner with Josh. We watched The Princess Bride and ate Ceviche.

Wednesday: Rob and I woke up bright and early and exercised at the park. While we were there we saw this cute bird. We thought he was dancing for us, but really he was trying to get us away from his nest which was apparently on the ground behind up. We looked over and there was momma bird also "dancing" flashing some brown and white speckled eggs. We left them to their nesting only to see the park get swarmed by 30 first graders ten minutes later. I can only imagine what happened to those poor eggs.

I was supposed to give a presentation, but lucked out and was not selected. Went home and made the best smoothies ever with Rob. 2 banana's 18 oz of strawberry yogurt, 4 frozen strawberries, 1 cup of milk, and some ice. YUM! We followed desert with dinner of baked chicken breast and artichokes.

I leave to NY in two days and I haven't even packed yet. I've got get a week ahead before I go. I'll be gone from 11am to 10pm tomorrow. I need to clean the whole apartment before I leave as well, so sleeping is out of the question until I jump on that plane. I'm feeling a little over whelmed. I'm excited and drained.

Rob's been living off coffee and a few hours of sleep a night for the past few days.

Big apple here we come!

Jan. 11th, 2009 02:32 pm Boyfriend/Girlfriend Survey

What is their name? RobD

What pet name do you like to call them? Shweetie

How long have you been together? 3 years 9 months 11 days.

How did you meet? We met at a party, but apparently all freshman year he was close to lots of people I knew. Mae showed me his animations and I was like yeah yeah why do I care about this guy. My sister had mentioned him because she talked to him in class from time to time. He hung out with a group of friends we hung with from time to time. That party was purely coincidence. It was the first one he had gone to in a while, and the first one I had gone to as well. We met there and about a week after having met we were dating. We hit the ground running and haven't stopped.

What do you like the most about them? I like his wit, his charm, and his kindness. I can't pick just one thing.

What do you like the least about them? He likes to put the TV on super loud.

What is the best thing they have ever done for you? He's done so much for me I can't pick just one. In a single instance he gave me a box filled with things he liked about me for Christmas. Overall he gave me confidence and made me feel beautiful.

Have they met your parents yet? Yeah, he met them that first summer.

What would you kids look like if you had kids? Light tan skin and dark hair I guess.

What is the worst argument you have had? This is for me and him to know.

Do you still kiss a lot? Whenever I can sneak in a kiss I do. So yes.

Who asked who out? He asked me. We were together already, but he made it official.

Do you think you will get married? I hope so, but I can't predict the future.

Can you see yourself growing old with them? Yes.

What is the one thing you would like to change about them? Nothing, I love him for who he is, but I would give him better hearing if I could...

What do you think they would like to change about you? I can be a little obsessive, I like to keep things on a schedule... probably that.

What is the first gift they ever bought you?:) Piggy socks.

Do you have a favorite song together? We sing anything and everything that comes to our minds, but we have not one song that both of us call a favorite.

Which famous person do you think they look like the most? Brad Bird.

Would you say the two of you are a good match? We share a lot of the same views. We also serve as the counter weight to each other. He likes to be free, disorganized, and spontaneous. I like to be scheduled and organized. When we meet in the middle we have a blast.

Dec. 11th, 2008 12:32 pm Because Bleuchik11 tagged me

8 things about myself

2. I quite enjoy bundling up and walking outside when its cold outside.
3. Every morning I wake up and try to think of how to convince Rob to take Bruce out so I can get 10 more minutes of shut eye.
4. I love eating at home way more than I enjoy eating out
5. I'm a shy person, but I don't mind giving speeches.
6. I chose my profession for the money and came to love it later.

Dec. 6th, 2008 02:29 pm Authentic Mexican Food

One of my pet peeves is "authentic" Mexican food. Seem like every time I look at an American cook book they tout some "authentic" Mexican recipe. These recipes are like any other, but with a pound of Pace Picante sauce slathered on top.

Yup I'm a Mexican who did not learn to cook every dish with a heaping helping of some canned salsa. Lets see, some of the most bastardized recipes I've seen.

"Authentic Mexican pot roast" Seriously, I wasn't aware that pot roast was a Mexican dish. It was pot roast cooked normally with 2 cups of salsa added. No, just no.

"Authentic Mexican breakfast tacos" As far as I knew tacos are pretty darn Mexican in the first place, but wait! This is authentic... lets see the ingredients. Tortillas, eggs, bell peppers, onion, and salsa to taste. You have to be kidding me. I don't think I've ever seen my mom use a bell pepper when cooking a Mexican dish.

"Authentic Mexican tacos" take two. chorizo sausage, corn tortillas, eggs, milk, cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese, dash Tabasco sauce, 1 cup salsa. They got the chorizo and eggs right, everything else... yeah no. WTF Tabasco sauce and again with the salsa

"Mexican rice" The recipe says cook rice as normal and add a cup of salsa and tomato paste.

You can not make a dish Mexican by adding Pace picante sauce, so if you'll excuse me I'm going to go have some Mexican pancakes with some Mexican syrup. That's right I'm going to have a tortilla with salsa, not really. Salsa can suck it.

Nov. 17th, 2008 07:50 am Thoughts on grad school

So this has been going on for a month now, this cycle of sleeplessness followed just a taste of sleep to keep me going. I didn't really except the work load to be like this, now I understand why my professor tried to talk me out of taking 12 hours of Grad classes at once.

I noticed all this is finally taking a toll on my body. I have bags under my eye and I have been losing weight (not in a good way). My eyes burn all the time. I know as soon as this is over, I'll probably sleep for 24 hours straight and gain 5 pounds.

This last two weeks has been the hardest. I've had to shack up in my apartment like a hermit crab to get my work done. I don't remember having worked this hard since highschool, the only difference is I used to take weekends off. I haven't taken a day or even a half day off since 2 days after Rob went out of town(Girls night for the win! Dog day and put put with Crystal and putt putt. Le woot.)I mean at least I started this most recent part off with a bang! There's, another thing that has made this hard is my rock, Rob, has been away. The apartment is a mess and frankly I couldn't care less. Tuesday night is going to rock so hard.

After I turn in this project I'll start another and then dive head first into final.

So, so tired. I went to bed two hours ago and I'm up now. Aside from being slightly grumpier than usual I think I'm holding up alright. I think of thinks in terms of how much sleep I could have gotten if I hadn't done them. So far this entry has cost me 10 minutes of sleep. Well poo. I can't remember the last time I felt like I was learning so much.

Little things like lunch with Crystal or dinner with friends keep me chugging along.

So its 4am and I can't bring myself to work anymore, but I've got so much to do!

I quite enjoy this time of night. No one but me and the fridge. Bruce gave up on the all nighter early on.

So my first semester of grad school will be winding down come Thursday. I'm so nervous about turning my first projects. There's a first time for everything!

In any case, there something outside that is getting knocked around by the wind making a horrible thump thump thump noise. Its helping to keep me awake. This nightmare of a week will be over soon enough!

Things I love about Rob

He hugs me when I'm trying to be angry at him.
He lets me be right most of the time.
He asks about Bruce when he is away
He mumbles in his sleep
He is spontaneous
He can cook
He is open minded
He is not shallow
He is smart
He adapts to the situations given to him
He can talk intelligently on many subjects
He welcomes constructive criticism from other to better himself
He reads
He loves his family
He calls when he's away. It took a while to make this happen, but I know I can count on him to call me now.
He genuinely cares about others
He thinks I can accomplish things even when I convince myself I can't. With his support he's usually right.
I can speak my mind around him.
The way he smells.
The way he gets ideas in his head (like getting a crawdaddy, racing game steering wheel, worms Armageddon) and can't get it out until the deed is done.
The way he dotes over animals.
His voice
His unruly hair.
His kindness and generosity.
His laugh and his desire to make other laugh
The way his face wrinkles when he smiles.
The way he walks
The way he talks to me
The way he brushes the hair out of my face

Sometimes I wake up and feel like I'm falling for him all over again.

He'll be back soon enough. After all this time I still miss him when he's gone even a day.

Woop woop! I'm back to my normal weight, I actual lost more weight than I though, but considering when I was being lazy I lost some muscle, I'm not as strong as I used to be. I plan to remedy that. Time to pump some iron and become muscular again.

Woops, forgot about the daily update thing. I have however been going to the gym like I wanted to. I feel great and my jeans aren't killing me anymore. Two more days and I'll have avoided fast food for 30 days! YES! I have gone to sit down restaurants, but I only ate half my entree (exception of Fudruckers, I love them too much) when I went. I did this on weekends only and went when it was more than just Rob and I.

I've only lost a pound, but its a hell of a lot better than gaining one. Plus with the weight training I do at the gym I'm sure I added a little muscle.

Woo hoo! Two days down on this 20 minute thing, 28 to go. My exercise today was walking around the mall for two hours without sitting down. Not a big deal, but its a start. I think I'll do some weights later.
